Markets. There are a bunch of red flags in the US.  A little different in Canada.  Sentiment amongst investors has become overly bullish.  Debt levels (margin debt) and short covering.  Just like 2007.  We are at 3 standard deviations from normal.  The last three times this happened, you saw a 10% correction shortly thereafter.  Gains in the markets recently are fueled by short covering.  He is a little bit more short than normal.  He will look at shorting the more cyclical areas of the market.  It could be the end of this bull market, perhaps it was last week in that reversal.  It will take a little time to play out.  We are close to a major peak in global assets.

Large PBX (phone switch).  Large distributor in Europe.  He is seeing a stabilization in Europe, especially in the north.  You don’t need the European business to come back to make money.  They shrunk the float by 25% in the last couple of years.  You will see them make an accretive acquisition or make a special dividend or be taken private.

Has a long position.  Lambs had a poor quarter.  Likes some of the catalysts.  They are marketing Weisers in the US which has a lot of upside in terms of sales growth and they are using their distributorship muscle within Canada and are starting to market more wines and they get a nice commission.  Sitting on cash.

Building out new stores in upstate New York.  Change drivers are all in place.  They continually need new capital because of the cost of building new stores.  The return on the capital is very high, but investors still watch the raising of capital.  He is in debentures but definitely participating in the next equity raise.  Return on capital is so high and it is a diversifier away from resources.
