Markets. Constructive on the market because of a lack of any alternative right now. With rates continuing to be so low and confidence starting to creep back into the retail investor, you don’t want to be too, too bullish but, at the same time, you don’t want to be running for the hills. Right now we have gone through a couple of the early stages of the bull market. We are now sort of in the optimism stage and could have another year or 18 months before we get into the euphoric stage. Valuations are still pretty reasonable.

(A Top Pick March 2/12. Down 15.62%.) Has clearly changed from a momentum stock, even though the valuation never approached dangerous levels. Feels a little bit of momentum is coming back. Earnings growth has flattened out in the last couple of quarters but doesn’t think it’s going to stay that way forever. Trading at only 10X earnings. Could see it moving into the mid-to high $500’s this year.

Just reported not very good earnings. Performance of their funds has not been very good either. He’d be a little careful of looking at the yield. Although they do have some cash in the balance sheet and should be able to sustain the yield for a bit, if they face heightened redemptions on some of their funds the yield could be affected.

Sees modest appreciation, similar to the Canadian banks stocks, so he would rather own Canadian banks. Had a great run off the bottom. Management has done a very good job of rectifying their past problems. With spreads as low as they are and loan demands still very, very modest, he doesn’t see a lot more upside.

Would probably look at this one, not so much as a price point, but as time. If it were trading at $12-$13 in 3 or 4 months, after we have seen market reaction and assuming the reaction to Z10 andQ10 was favourable, then he might have a more serious look at it. Speculative play.

Sold off a couple of weeks ago on some guidance related to Asia. Solid company. Trading at about 10X earnings. This is probably a pretty decent entry point. The whole Apple (AAPL-Q) supply chain has sold off in sympathy with Apple, a lot of cases justifiably and a lot of cases unjustifiably. This is in the latter category. 75% of their business comes from Apple. They make the audio chips that go into the iPad and iPhone. Trading at only 6X earnings.

Has done very well over the last couple of years. Seniors housing is a great business to be in. Had some problems on their US side but divested a number of assets there and concentrated more on Canadian properties. Very good job of managing the homes. Nice yield of about 5%. They keep building new properties slowly and steadily.

Great company. Sold off a couple of weeks ago on some lowered guidance, which brought it into a buying range at 14X next year’s earnings. Operates in excess of 500 stores. Growth plans over the next 4 or 5 years to get to 1000 stores. Have been growing mid-teens for the last several years. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the mid-$50’s before the end of the year.

Thinks the big rebound was just a technical rebound after its big slide to the downside. Part of it was yield based as well. Feels the company is still struggling. A somewhat dysfunctional board. Had management issues with a stream of CEO’s over the last several years. Better places to be.

An issue he has had with this company is that their products go into other people’s products so they don’t control the customer per se. They are looking at things where the can get more exposure with the end customer. Reasonable valuation. Well managed. Wouldn’t be his 1st choice on the technology side.
